The iWay Adapter for PeopleSoft allows an organization to fully integrate its PeopleSoft 7.5 and PeopleSoft 8.0 application systems with virtually any other legacy system, DBMS, ERP, SCM, or CRM application on any platform. High-speed, low-impact access to and from PeopleSoft exposes the critical business logic and data contained with PeopleSoft for reuse – the key to building a successful e-business or integrated enterprise.

Flexible and Easy to Use

Point-to-point computing environments are often restrictive, providing very little flexibility for change. Also, as the computing environment expands to include legacy systems, ERP packages, SCM packages, CRM packages, EDI, B2B, and the Internet, the cost and complexity of the application integration maintenance grows. In some cases, the point-to-point solution cannot be expanded at all, forcing the integration to be reengineered. By using the iWay Adapter for PeopleSoft Technologies in combination with iWay Service Manager, true integration of PeopleSoft with all your various disparate applications is not only possible, it is downright easy. Supported environments include IBM WebSphere, IBM WebSphere MQ Integrator, Microsoft BizTalk Server, Microsoft Commerce Server, Oracle 9iAS, and Oracle 9iAS InterConnect.

How It Works

The iWay PeopleSoft XML eBusiness Adapter supports the integration of PeopleSoft applications and third-party systems by publishing business events as XML-formatted messages. To subscribe to data, third-party applications can accept and process XML messages posted by PeopleSoft by adding to already available PeopleSoft handlers, a custom Java subscription handler (or plug-in) to the PeopleSoft Application Messaging Gateway servlet. The iWay PeopleSoft XML eBusiness Adapter offered by iWay is configured within the PeopleSoft system. The PeopleSoft XML output is triggered within PeopleSoft as a result of a business event using Java handler to put the documents on IBM MQSeries, Microsoft MSMQ or Oracle AQ queues, external files or to perform an HTTP POST. The iWay Adapter converts those calls into XML documents.

The formatting capabilities inside of iWay Service Manager can convert the PeopleSoft XML into an iWay XML request and response document XML or to WSDL standard XML formats. The iWay request document is the connection into the iWay infrastructure allowing integration of countless back-end database platforms, transaction systems, and application environments, such as CICS or IMS. The iWay Service Manager will transform these XML documents into a number of XML and non-XML formats including cXML, xCBL, ebXML, SAP IDoc, OAG BOD, SQL, ANSI X.12 EDI, UN/EDIFACT EDI, SWIFT, FIX, and HIPAA.

The Application Systems Adapter for PeopleSoft validates input in some cases by executing panel-level triggers and by executing all underlying application code. The Application Systems adapter could be invoked as the result of an event in a different application, such as Add Employee in SAP R/3, which triggers an update to a PeopleSoft human resources system. The iWay Application Adapter Server has an interface to the PeopleSoft Message Agent (7.5) and PeopleSoft Component Interface (8.0) that is exposed to an application as a standard iWay Remote Procedure (RPC) call inside an iWay Embedded Request XML document. The iWay RPC can also be accessed using standard iWay Connectors such as COM or Java JCA.
